I Am Thankful

As I reflect on this year and all the blessings in my life, I thank God for His gracious love. I am thankful for the gifts and talents given to me by God, my Creator.
These last two years, I’ve grown closer to God and am embracing who I am becoming, loving myself because He first loved me, healing through past pain. I am a firm believer in prayer and staying faithful in God’s goodness.
This year I prayed for the opportunity to expand in my passion and purpose in writing poetry, being a poet, and more than anything to be a blessing to those who read my poems.
In the last few months I’ve focused on my purpose for my upcoming poetry book and as I am transforming into the woman God created me to be, I can see the vision of my book becoming, as I too am becoming.
I’m humbled and thankful for having my first poem published in The Black And Latinx Poetry Project by Alegria Publishing.

I’m thankful for the weekly workshops by Davina, meeting other creative souls and sharing our passion in writing and poetry, for supporting and encouraging each other.
I’m thankful for my family as they support me through my poetry journey.
I’m thankful for the blessings of friends, for my praying friends, my friends that support me and push me to always do my best in all I do.
Thank you for my community of followers and supporters, for reading and embracing my work.
I am growing for you all.
🥰 Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!! 🥰

Woman of Color, of Strength, Lead us….
As Latina women, we are not given much of a safe place in our community to speak the truth….tell our stories…share our pain, our struggles, so that the next generation will not repeat it.
We are told to put our heads down or turn away, to be stronger…
Yet we are raised by strong women: grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters, girlfriends, etc.
We are taught that our value as a woman is by default to be a wife and caretaker… which is a beautiful thing.
However, not all follow this path…be it by choice or circumstances.
To be a woman is not to be labeled, to be set by boundaries, to be held by standards, it’s to live and love the body and person who you were created to be.
As women, we are to live in a way that builds us and our communities, our younger generation, to be a positive role model. To share our stories, to guide them, protect them. To live in faith and love.
~ “No! I won’t be defined by your statistics.
Labeled by a standard, but by who?
Woman, Stand up! Speak up!
Woman of color, of strength….
Lead us…” ~ S 2020
Reflections

On January 1st, as always, I write my in my prayer journal, and I ask God to help me fulfill my life in my path for whatever is in my heart’s desire/passion/purpose, to guide me. I’ve read through my last three years…my January 1st(s)…and from 2018 …I’m asking God to push me to my destiny….help me move forward with my life’s goals and dreams..In 2019…I’m asking God to bring the right people into my life…to love myself in the middle of the storm I was going through in that time period….
And 2020…I asked for guidance…to find purpose in my poetry….to be more patient and understanding…to have an open heart….and my special prayer for my family and friends for 2020…
Today, in this moment, 2020 has been a blessing in disguise, I’ve found my love in many areas of my life through my passion for writing poetry, traveling alone, seeing new places, crossing paths with a special friend,
studying Creative Writing, working on a special project, connecting with other talented souls, poets, and writers…
I am where I need to be, even if it seems like it’s a storm…. It’s only a season, I made through the last two years….and this year… it’s becoming…I’m becoming…my Vision Board…my story…my voice…no longer in the shadows of my journals….
Live your life! Enjoy the moments when you laugh, when you feel alive 💫 Share your story…be a light to someone else… support your friends and family, love them, be love.
